Good fridge for 2 years

had fridge for 2 1/2 years and it was good. then it stopped cooling. replaced main board and inverter board to no avail and not under the 1yr warranty. have determined it is a failure of the closed system which has a 5 yr parts and labor warranty.
i have spent 2 weeks trying to get things sorted with samsung and their local authorized service people with no luck. getting frustrated.
would have a hard time recommending samsung at this time.

my parents got this fridge and it works really well. its basic but never fails or has problems like other basics. it feels smooth and has that samsung 2011 feeling.

I bought this refrigerator in August of 2018 and it has been working very well. It has a lot of storage space in it for it's size. Everything was going well until... I had some pork chops de thawing on the bottom glass shelf. above the drawers. The packaging the chops were in leaked all over the glass shelf one night. No problem, cleaned it up and lysol-ed the shelf. It seemed fine. It did not leak into the drawers or down the sides that I could see. Fast forward to a week later and there was the most horrendous stink coming from my fridge. I threw away anything that might have been a bit old. I found some questionable celery so thought that might be causing the issue. Nope, next day the stink was way worse. The odor was permeating my whole kitchen and I just about threw up when I opened the door to the fridge. I pulled the drawers out and took out the shelf the pork chop juice had been sitting on the week prior. The juice had leaked under the glass shelf and gotten behind the plastic the holds the glass in the shelf. I took it to my laundry room and tried to figure out how to get the glass out of the plastic. Well folks, on these cheaper models there is no way to get the glass out. The smart folks at Samsung (I'm sure in an effort to save some money on the less-expensive models) have molded the plastic around the glass with no way to separate the glass from the unit. I tried pipping hot water running over the glass and into the seal. No Luck. I tried putting on Dish gloves and pushing on the glass to try and separate it from the plastic a bit more to get water behind it. Still, the crusty bloody meat juice stink remains. The glass will not budge away from the plastic across the front of the shelf. I called Samsung and the store where I purchased the refrigerator. Mixed up baking soda and water and tried to get that in between the glass and plastic as directed by both the store and Samsung.. Still no luck. It almost looks like there is a sealant on the glass under the plastic that the rancid juice is clinging to. My last attempt is to go out and purchase a tub to soak the shelf in overnight with water and baking soda, as directed by the store. I would consider this a manufacture defect as anyone who owns a refrigerator and eats meat has had a store package leak onto their shelf at one point in their life. Every refrigerator I have owned had a way to lift the glass from the plastic to thoroughly clean around it. If the refrigerator is made to hold rancid bacteria filled juice in a poorly constructed shelf, then the refrigerator becomes unusable due to the smell and bacteria contaminating other food. I was told this is not a warranty issue. I was told I would need to purchase a new shelf from Samsung parts department. If you do buy this fridge, make sure any meat you de-thaw is securely in a bag, and be sure that bag does not have possibility of leaking! Other than having issues cleaning the fridge, it is a nice fridge. Has kept food cold and has more space for storage than the average 18 cu ft fridge. Buyer beware though. I would have given it 5 stars across the board until I learned about the stupid design of the shelves.

Poor product, good performance for the 1st year, after that constant beeping sound every 30 seconds, lights go off, cooling bad. Now, I have to pay a technician to fix it. I have tried every video online to get the problem solve. I wish I had not bought it. Now I know. next time something next fancy and more reliable.

We just took delivery of our new fridge. This thing has a whole bunch of features for the size and price. It is quite as a mouse with eady to clean shelves and sufaces. The flexibility offered is impressive. It isn't real fancy with bells and whistles that no one needs. Way to go Samsung.

Looks sharp and modern but not worth the design flaws.
-Freezer door cant be opened for a period of time after closing it (Support claims this is normal operation)
-Swapping the door opening from L to R is incredibly complicated
-Compatible ice maker jams up and moving parts have interference. Had a technician look at it and return it 2 times before finally modifying the part myself.
-Fits less food than a comparable sized fridge

Refrigerator is excellent except that a person cannot store a 1/2 gal. plastic carton of milk on a shelf - not enough height room. Milk must be stored in the door shelf. I don,t know where to store a gallon container of milk.

I replaced my ancient refrigerator with this one. So far I've been very happy with this product. The lighting in both the fridge and freezer areas is nice. It makes some strange sounds as part of its normal function but overall it's much quieter than my old one!

This is the first time I have tried a Samsung refrigerator. I have always been pleased with my Samsung products in the past so I thought I would give this a try. There are not very many refrigerators without water dispensers on the front so it made this purchase more favorable. Although I would have like the refrigerator to be slightly bigger, it was reasonably priced. I also am a fan that there is no visible handle.

Plenty of room inside and bright with led interior lights. Love the ability to use both zones as a fridge and the size makes it right to fit anywhere. The con I see is the doors are reversible, but the delivery folks could not do anything as additional hardware is required. He informed us that a special technician would be required along with the additional parts to make it happen. Other than that we love the refrigerator.

replaced a very old, large kitchen refrigerator and was happy to have found this refrigerator! love the hidden handles, LED lights inside and the alarm for notifying you if you leave the fridge open too long . Also it runs very quiet.

Originally purchased another compact fridge from another company that would not get below 50 degrees even at max settings. Returned that one and bought this one. It reaches a good temperature at only half power. Obviously a much nicer fridge. I really like this fridge. It's not too big for our little kitchen and it works well and quietly. I like the flexibility of being able to turn the top into a fridge. Only downside is that the freezer is bigger than one typically expects in this size, making the fridge smaller. The fridge shelves are a bit short because of this and we can only fit our water filter on the very bottom shelf, which is a bit awkward. However, it's great otherwise. I like the pull out tray for lunch meath and cheese and I also love the fact that the handles are built in and don't stick out and take up more kitchen space.

17.6 top freezer refrigerator

I had to wait 3 weeks due to back log at lowes but it was packaged excellently and the handlers were great. It came in great condition no problems. he gave me the correct info to begin the cold process (don't put things in it for 24 hours at least not much.) perfect for me as I was prepared. it was just the right temperature and it holds all I normally buy. I am the only one in my household but the freezer holds a little more than my old one did and I buy a lot of frozen veggies and dinners. it hold a gallon of milk and even a couple of 2liters of soda which is great and what my old one did. My only slight complaint is I would rather have had 3 bins rather than 2 and that shelve but I have found a use for it lately. it runs well and is quiet. I love the sleekness of the outside, makes it so easy to clean. also love that has no handles that grab dirt and debris and sticks out taking up space. I have a really small house and very limited room so I had to really measure and make sure I found that the right size. I am so glad that my old fridge went out when it did and this new model came out at the same time. It has everything and more that I was looking for. takes up less space and still holds all the things I normally buy. excellent, excellent value. I am very pleased.

We had to replace our 8 year old refrigerator unexpectedly. We are planning to redo our kitchen and wanted to wait another year however we had no choice. When we saw this model, we were ecstatic as we can now use this as a spare refrigerator or make it a complete freezer when our remodeling is completed. We will definitely purchase Samsung appliances. So happy with this product!
